About Tamika Santiago

I ran the kind of business I now help.

Most small businesses are not failing at the hard things. They are losing money on the small ones nobody ever told them about.

Tamika Santiago, founder of Brick & Mortar Media

Hi, I'm Tamika

More than twenty years inside a home services business.

I spent over twenty years building a home services company in eastern Connecticut. I ran the crews. I wrote the standard operating procedures and built the onboarding. I handled OSHA, safety, and compliance. I did the estimating and the proposals.

I also bought the advertising through five generations of it: newspaper, phone book, radio, a stadium billboard, and finally Google.

Along the way, I learned what a missed call actually costs. I learned that people choose the person, not the company. And I learned that if nobody asks for the review, nobody leaves one.

So when I look at your business, I am not looking at it like a marketer. I am looking at it like somebody who has stood in a driveway at the end of a long day wondering why the phone was not ringing.

What that means for you

You already do good work. That part is not the problem.

The problem is usually smaller and more boring than people expect.

Your information does not match

Your hours say one thing on Google and something else on your website.

Leads wait too long

A lead comes in at two in the afternoon and nobody gets back to them until Thursday.

Your website feels anonymous

Your site does not tell anyone who actually works there.

Happy customers stay quiet

You have two hundred happy customers and only forty reviews.

That is the work

None of that needs a rebrand. It needs somebody to find it and fix it.

I look at how your business shows up online, tell you plainly what it is costing you, and then fix what is worth fixing.

Why this matters to me

I learned these lessons the expensive way.

I am building Brick & Mortar Media from Willimantic while working full time. Alongside it, I am building Cleo, an animated series that teaches small business owners the things I had to learn the expensive way.

I have spent twenty years giving this advice away one conversation at a time. This is me finally writing it down.
